Warmest welcome to Raising Nourished Athletes (RNA)!
I’m Rachel, a registered dietitian nutritionist since 2008. I’ve spent my career translating the science of nutrition into practical advice for patients and clients, from all walks of life. But don’t worry, I pride myself on being a dietitian you can comfortably dine with. Order as you please!
RNA is nothing, if not a judgment free zone.
Improved nutrition –> fewer injuries, optimal recovery, and peak performance.
OK, that’s it – I’ll dive into my origin story a bit more now. If you’d rather skip it, I’d love for you to dive into the blog and start learning.
Please, please, holler with any questions!

Many moons ago, I was a high school soccer and track & field student athlete, and eventually a D1 cross country and distance track student athlete. I was NOT a nourished athlete. Think sugary cereal, hot dogs, fast food, pop (I'm a midwesterner, that's how we do), and very few vegetables. How I survived elite training and competition, relatively unscathed, is truly a mystery.
But your success as a student athlete doesn’t have to be a mystery!
That’s why I’m here. My goal with RNA is to provide valuable information for becoming the healthiest student athlete you can be and for Mom/Dad/caretaker/coach to raise you in a nourished manner.
I want confident young women and men entering the next phase of their athletics careers in the most nourished and complete manner possible. Positive body image, tough mindsets, whole athletes ready to compete at the next level.
But most of us overlook a KEY element. Nutrition! Enough calories, the right kind of calories, enough hydration, the right kind of hydration. Supplements? Vitamins? Minerals? Animal vs. plant-based? Enough here…let’s dive in*
*See if you can spot at least one sports pun in every post. Not that you asked, but if I wasn’t a dietitian, I’d be some sort of marketer coming up with witty taglines. I have a few gems up my sleeve – humor me and ask about them sometime.
Lastly, logistics – RNA’s home base is sunny Carmel, IN. You can catch us in person here or virtually everywhere else.
